PROCESS
While smart phone apps are what activates the process, the true heart of MerSOS is the patent-pending comprehensive communication system that activates the device technology, notifies the appropriate authorities with a full profile of information and engages the local community quickly, efficiently and thoroughly.
Activating the Process
The device has options to activate the process:
1. Activation Point on the Device
- When in distress, a child or adult is able to activate the process on the device
itself
2. Remote Activation
- Device can be activated by both a parent through the MerSOS website or the NCC (Network Control Center) directly
3. Distance Parameters
- A customer is able to have the option of setting distance parameters. For example, if a child were to go outside of a set distance (10 miles, 20 miles, etc) the device will be activated automatically.
Once the Device is Activated
• Immediately and continuously snap photos of surrounding area using the camera feature in hopes of capturing the abductors face, license plate, make/model of car, and/or identifying images of current location
• The IR/Bluetooth will activate to grab any available cell phone information including perpetrator or possible witnesses
• The device will acquire current and ongoing latitude and longitude information during the process
• The RF will be activated to back up the process in case the location is not easily accessible by other signals
The phone will establish a secure/encrypted tunnel with our routers (via Satellite or cell towers – best signal strength). Once a connection is established, it will send an alert to our NCC (Network Control Center) notifying them that an event is in progress. All info acquired once the device is activated will be uploaded to our NCC from the device.
The device will continue to snap photos (periodically), look for IR info, gather changes in the geographic location, etc and upload the updated info as necessary.
The NCC will place calls to verify the event. If it determined to be an actual abduction, the NCC will push a script out to the geo-targeted area (via cross-reference from lat & longs) where the event is taking place and will automatically notify the local police, Amber Alert (if meets the alert guidelines), local news stations, Social Media users (facebook, Twitter, etc), grocery/department stores, gyms, coffee shops, etc. This notification will have the victim’s profile including height, weight, age, recent photo, etc. The victim’s profile will automatically “pop-up” on geo-targeted social media users and in local shops/stores/malls/gyms display screens.
This process will involve the entire local community and if the victim is traveling from where the abduction occurred the process will follow and activate in the new zip codes. This process will save a lot of time and in turn save lives.
